Instagram inspired visit around the Yorkshire Dales National Park
The Yorkshire Dales National Park is a beautiful location and has inspired many photographs over the years. I know as I have taken loads!
But today with mobile phones ever present, even if occasionally no signal available, many people are now taking photos and sharing them via Instagram.
So what if we were to see where the Instagram action occurred and use that as inspiration to build out a plan for their visit?
We thought it would be fun, it was a quiet Sunday, not much on, to look at various aspects of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and see which ones had attracted the most hashtags. We could have been obvious and just targeted the most photogenic topics but we wanted to create a more rounded view of what goes on in the YDNP and see where that took us.
So here below are the results and in no particular order or with any agenda and while we show the top three results we looked at the top ten in most categories.
Categories are: Waterfalls, Dales, Walks, Points of Interest, Villages, Attractions and Country Fairs.
If you are looking for somewhere to stay in the Yorkshire National park then do have a look at Swale View Cottage in Swaledale! Its very handily located for all of the sites featured below.
Methodology
All information on hashtag numbers was compiled on the 26th January 2020
We looked purely at the top ranked hashtag that was applicable to the category we were ranking
Some entries had to be omitted due to double meanings on words which would have skewed the results. For example in the villages category ‘#dent’ has 320,000 attributions!
Data compiled is available here in top ten list format
